when the visitors finish visiting the main hall of Topkapi palace, their next destination will be the terrace where there is a fascinating sea view. the sultans used to watch and control the fleet (a group of ships sailing together, engaged in the same activity, or under the same ownership) via that terrace. and this lovely corner was made for the Sultan so he could break his fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

In Dolmabahçe palace , 14 tons of gold were used to decorate ceilings in gold leaves .. ! , the Sultan and his family had lived at the Topkapı Palace, but as the medieval Topkapı was lacking in contemporary style, luxury, and comfort, as compared to the palaces of the European monarchs, Abdülmecid decided to build a new modern palace near the site of the former Beşiktaş Sahil Palace, which was demolished.

It was built in 1853-1855 and located between sultan's mother mosque and the main door of the palace . The tower consists of four floors , and considered as one of the biggest and most beautiful towers in Turkey . On the fourth floor, there is a clock which was brought from France at that time

The Sultan Ahmed Mosque has five main domes, six minarets, and eight secondary domes. The design is the culmination of two centuries of Ottoman mosque development.

the obelisk of Theodosius was set up with a similar one in front of the temple of Amun-Re at Karnak in Egypt . several obelisks were transported from Egypt to Rome, and during the reign of Theodosius I the obelisk was re-erected in its current place .. the stone piece now is shorter than its original size. it may be that the monument was broken during handling or deliberately damaged to take off the burden to a certain degree .. #show_me_Istanbul

This is how people used to pray in Fatih mosque in Istanbul .. they were sitting beside the green windows which got that colour from the green garden outside . someone prayed, others read the holy Quran . #show_me_Istanbul
